Curtis Mathes Receivers & Tuners were some of the best the world had ever known, handmade in Texas by folks who cared about the product they were making.

The photos below are of a Curtis Mathes 6BQ5 EL84 TUBE AMPLIFIER TUNER & RECEIVER

This came out of a 1962 Curtis Mathes console.

It works and in fact it didn't even have any perceivable hum.

Some would want to replace the filter capacitors anyway because of age, but she is working fine.

All in all a very well made Texas beauty.

I checked all the 6BQ5s and they are very healthy. I also checked the three 12 AX7s and the 12AT7.

One 12 AX7 is weak and the others are good. The 12AT7 is very healthy.

I didn't bother with the rest of the tubes. It looks like all the tubes are original.

The FM worked but I didn't get anything on the AM. I am in a metal building though.

This does not have the multiplexer but she does have the schematic for the one that goes with this unit.

It has a separate power supply chassis and that isn't a bad thing, it‘s a good thing.

Keeping the power supply separate is supposed to be the best way to do it to minimize noise.

This has a very cool walnut face plate with a brass bezel.

Below are some of the walnut veneer from the concole when it wsa in a full cabinet.
